What does compressing to 25MB involve?
To compress a video to 25MB, drop your file into the compressor, choose Custom size, and enter 25. BitSized reads the duration, subtracts the audio budget, and encodes your video with the highest H.264 bitrate that fits 25,000,000 bytes including container overhead. A three-minute clip typically lands at 480p–720p with audio kept, and longer talking-head content can stay at 720p because static scenes compress far more efficiently than constant motion.
Steps
- 1
Drag your video onto the drop zone (or click to browse) and wait for the file details to appear.
- 2
Pick a target size: Discord Free (20MB, the current free limit), Safe 10MB, Nitro Basic (50MB), Nitro (up to 1GB), or type a custom MB cap.
- 3
Optionally choose a resolution cap (1080p/720p/480p) and whether to keep audio — muting audio saves roughly 12 KB per second.
- 4
Press Compress. The engine loads once (about 25MB, then cached by your browser) and your video is compressed locally with a live progress bar.
- 5
Preview the before/after result, then hit Download and attach the file in Discord — it will play inline in chat.
